LAHORE: The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) on Sunday arrested a man on charge of killing his eight-year-old daughter in Hadiara over his second marriage.

The minor girl, Habiba, was killed with a sharp-edged weapon last month and a case under suicide charges was registered.

The victim’s father, Arshad, had alerted police on emergency 15. He told police that his daughter had committed suicide after slashing her throat with a sharp-edged weapon.

Police ordered the post-mortem of the child’s body before handing it over to the family for burial.

CIA Superintendent of Police Asim Iftikhar constituted an investigation team, led by Civil Lines CIA DSP Qamar Sajid, to probe the case.

After initial investigation, police arrested Arshad who confessed to killing his daughter.

Arshad had contracted a second marriage after divorcing his first wife, the mother of the deceased girl. He had two children, a girl (Habiba) and a boy, from his former wife.

In his statement, the suspect confessed that he was not having a good relationship with his second wife due to his two children from first marriage. He wanted to get rid of his children from ex-wife and had made a plan to kill both of them. He first killed his daughter and declared it a suicide incident. He had a plan to kill his son too.

DIG investigation Shehzad Sultan appreciated the police team for resolving the murder case.
