CHITRAL: A student was killed and 15 others sustained injuries when a van plunged into a ravine here on Monday evening.

An official of Rescue 1122 told Dawn that the students of Government High School, Lonkoh, were returning to their village after participating in an inter-school cricket tournament in Booni, when the accident occurred. He said one of the injured, identified as Farhat Hakim, died while being shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Booni.

The condition of rest of the students is said to be stable.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan is likely to visit Chitral on Thursday (Nov 18), where he will address a public gathering at the Parade Ground.

Lower Chitral deputy commissioner Hassan Abid said the visit was still tentative. He, however, said public address would be the major activity of the premier’s daylong visit.
