KHAIRPUR, Nov 21: Sindh PPP President Qaim Ali Shah said on Sunday that previous records of political victimization were broken during the recent local body elections in Sindh as the government machinery had been used against Awam Dost candidates and PPP workers.
He said that some of the PPP workers violated party discipline and acquired councillor seats for their personal interest.
He was speaking at a reception hosted by the president of the PLF Sukkur, Liaquat Ali Shar.
He said the disobedience was also observed in the People’s Lawyers Forum due to which Liaquat Ali Shar had been appointed as new president of the PLF.
He said that the PLF led by Yahya Bakhtiar was founded by Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
He said the lawyers’ community had given great sacrifices for creation of Pakistan and democracy because its founder Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah was also a lawyer.
Criticizing the donors’ conference held in Islamabad, he said it had exposed the government’s claims of a strong economy.
He said that without Benazir Bhutto, democracy and fair elections in the country, would be a cruel joke.
Noor Mohammad Soomro, Shahid Nawaz Bhutto, Meeran Bux Shar, Ayaz Solangi, Mohammad Ali Mughal, Ghulam Mustafa Khaskheli and Manzoor Larik joined the PLF on the occasion.
