UNFAIR ADVERTISEMENT: The Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) has recently announced 1,731 regular jobs for lecturers in various disciplines. It is not fair to those whose cases are still in court. The PPSC should have closed the previous appointments’ process before advertising for new ones. Besides, it is unfair to advertise in December when many students do not happen to be in possession of their final transcripts. Also, the public should know about job opportunities through official announcements, not from random posts on the social media.

ELECTION RULES: Regardless of the outcome of the local government (LG) elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), violation of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) code of conduct was in bad taste. The ECP had specifically asked senior government office-holders not to visit Peshawar ahead of the LG polls, but they went anyway. If the government is not prepared to abide by the rules, how will it ask others to do that?

AWARENESS NEEDED: While using the Orange Line Metro train in Lahore, I have noticed that despite strict vigilance, people still deface the metro trains and stations. I feel that if the authorities concerned collaborate with the Directorate of Education and run awareness programmes in schools, we would be able to cover a wide spectrum of people, and spread the relevant message against this social menace.

GAS LOADSHEDDING: The Sultan Shah Colony area in Hyderabad houses around 4,000 families. The area had never faced gas loadshedding till about two years ago when the problem first started. Today, the supply has dried up completely. The residents have lodged several complaints with the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) and with the Citizen Portal, but nothing has worked as nobody is willing to even pay heed to the problem.
