GUJAR KHAN: A woman killed her three minor daughters by slitting their throats and then attempted suicide by setting herself on fire in Haranpur village of Pind Dadan Khan on Saturday morning, police said.

District Police Officer (DPO) Jhelum Rana Tahir Rehman identified the victim girls as one-year-old Faiza, Jannat, 4, and Zobia, 6.

The 35-year-old woman was taken into custody by the police.

According to police sources, the husband of the woman was a rickshaw driver and the couple had estranged relations due to poor financial conditions.

The sources said the woman had a brawl with her mother-in-law on Saturday morning over some petty issue. Later, the woman was alone at home with her minor daughters when she slashed their throats with a sharp instrument.

The police were called by her neighbours when the woman started screaming after setting herself on fire.
