KARACHI: The Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) on Sunday held a rally in Sohrab Goth for release of incarcerated party lawmaker Ali Wazir.

Addressing the party workers near Al-Asif Square, PTM chief Manzoor Pashteen said MNA Wazir had been languishing in jail for past 13 months. He said the Supreme Court had granted bail to the legislator, but he was ‘implicated’ in another case. He claimed that not only Wazir, but other party leaders and workers had also been detained in the country over ‘fake’ cases.

He warned to take ‘extreme action’ if the lawmaker was not released. He hinted at holding a sit-in outside the Sindh Assembly on January 19.

He said the country-wide protests would be held against the detention of MNA Wazir and other party workers and they would hold a march in Islamabad for their release.
