SHANGLA: Two coal miners, who were killed in a mine collapse incident in Duki area of Balochistan, were laid to rest in their ancestral graveyard in Puran tehsil of Shangla on Monday.

Abid Yaar, the president of Shangla Coalmine Workers Rights Association, told Dawn that the bodies of the miners were brought to their hometown Kuz Paw of Puran tehsil on Sunday night from Balochistan. Two other workers, who were injured in the incident, admitted to a hospital there.

He said that the incident took place in a mine in Duki on Saturday when the labourers were working inside the mine and a portion of it collapsed, burying them under the rubble.

Mr Yaar said that Rozi Khan and Said Jamal of Kuz Paw were killed in the incident while two others got injuries. He said the funeral prayers of the deceased miners were offered at Kuz Paw.

He urged the Balochistan government to ensure safety and security of the miners at their workplace by implementing rules and law on mines.
