Kiosks, shops damaged in fire in Faizabad

RAWALPINDI: Several shops and kiosks were gutted after fire broke out in Faizabad in the early hours of Wednesday.

However, no one was reported hurt.

Declaring the fire ‘A’ degree, fire tenders from Rescue 1122 and ambulances reached the spot and started fire-extinguishing operation.

According to Rescue 1122, it received a call at 4:26am, in which the caller said that fire had erupted in shops and stalls of old clothes near Faizabad.

Thick smoke could be seen rising from the shops.

Responding to the emergency call, two ambulances, rescue vehicles and fire engines were sent to the scene and the fire was extinguished after one hour’s effort.

Some shopkeepers arrived at the scene and were able to shift their goods to a safe location.

The New Town police, in addition to fire trucks, reached and cordoned off the area. On hearing the sirens of fire tenders, some residents and traders from the neighbourhood also arrived at the site.

The fire department has not given any cause of the fire.
