RAWALPINDI: All formalities have been completed to send the body of a 47-year-old American national of Pakistani origin to the US on Friday morning.

Wajiha Farooq Swati’s body was lying at the District Headquarters Hospital mortuary since the police retrieved it from a house in Lakki Marwat on Dec 25. She had gone missing after arriving in Rawalpindi on Oct 16.

The body was claimed by her brother Ahmad Farooq and sister Aamira Farooq on Thursday and taken to the Rawalpindi Medical College for embalming (preserving against decaying).

Ms Shabana, Wajiha’s lawyer, confirmed to Dawn that the body would be airlifted to New York on Friday.

Six suspects, including the ex-husband of the woman Rizwan Habib Bangash, have been arrested in the murder case and sent to jail. The ex-husband has confessed to killing her, according to the police.

His father along with four servants have been arrested on the charges of aiding and abetting the murder.
