RAHIM YAR KHAN: Six children died and two suffered injuries when a mud wall of a house collapsed at Basti Faqir Bakhsh Bakrani near Rahimabad area of Sadiqabad tehsil about 65 kilometres from here on Saturday noon.

The incident occurred at Ameer Bakhsh’s house where the children were playing with mud near a hole and the upper part of the wall fell on them. Bashiran Bibi, 5, Sakeena, 10, Shakeela, 7, Amna, 8, Tasleem, 9, and Muhammad Iqbal, 5, died on the spot while Hasra, 12, and Hafsa, 6, suffered injuries and were taken to the Indus Hospital, Bhong.

RYK Deputy Commissioner Mehtab Wasim Azhar told Dawn that he had directed the Sadiqabad assistant commissioner to reach immediately to monitor the rescue activities and he would also inquire into the matter later to ascertain the reasons of the sad incident.

He said the Rescue 1122 personnel had already started relief operation. The doctors and paramedical staff at the THQ hospital, Sadiqabad, had been instructed to provide best medical facilities for the injured children, he said.
