KHYBER: Customs authorities on Saturday seized seven kilogrammes of heroin and two and half kilogrammes of ice from an empty vehicle coming from Afghanistan.

The officials said driver of the vehicle, an Afghan national, was also arrested and his vehicle impounded.

They said customs staff had so far seized 239 kilogrammes of illegal drugs from vehicles, all empty, while coming from Afghanistan since January 5.

Officials, however, did not furnish details about a sudden surge in smuggling of different types of narcotics from Afghanistan into Pakistan in recent days.
