KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency on Sunday claimed to have arrested two suspects for allegedly committing a Rs200 million online fraud with scores of people.

The Corporate Crime Circle of the FIA carried out raids in Federal B Area and Gulshan-i-Iqbal and arrested Suleman and Awais, the chief executive officer and director of Click Pay Earn and Global Ads and Marketing, respectively.

The FIA said the duo lured people through ‘digital marketing’ and different investment schemes and committed fraud.

Meanwhile, FIA director general Dr Sanaullah Abbasi on Sunday visited the agency’s Karachi zonal headquarters and got a briefing about several ongoing probes into money launhdering, cryptocurrency, hoarding of dollars, etc.

FIA Sindh Zone-I director Amir Farooqi gave the briefing.

DG Abbasi reviewed recent hawala/hundi, smuggling and hoarding of dollars investigations and asked the authorities to take more concerted action to curb the illegal currency business to stabilise rupee against the dollar.

He also exchanged views about suspicious transactions by financial institutions.
