KHAIRPUR, Nov 23: One person was killed and two others were injured when a truck hit a motorbike on the National Highway near Thehri on Tuesday evening. According to reports, Jial Joyo, a resident of Khairpur Nizamani Mohalla, died on the spot.

While the other two motorcyclists, Razzaq and Imdad, were seriously injured.

The truck driver fled after the accident.

The body was handed over to relatives after post-mortem.

KILLED: Two persons were killed by armed men here on Wednesday outside the Mehmood Phulpoto village in the jurisdiction of the B-Section police station.

According to reports, four gunmen killed Kareem Bux, 20, son of Koral Phulpoto, and Abdul Hakeem, 20, son of Chhuttal Phulpoto.

The deceased were cousins.

They were going to a fish farm when the armed men opened fire on them.

It was said that there was a dispute over a watercourse and a piece of land between the two rival groups of the Phulpoto tribe.

BAIL: The Khairpur central jail superintendent and the jail medical officer here on Tuesday were granted bail before arrest in the sum of Rs50,000 each.

The investigation police of the B-section had submitted an interim challan of the case of the three prisoners, Fayaz Chandio, Suleman Kaleri and Khamiso alias Ameer Bux Sehto, who had fled from the prisoners’ ward of the civil hospital of Khairpur on October 23.

The challan was submitted on Monday against police officials, including head constable Liaquat Ali Mari, Imam Bux Ujjan, Mumtaz Ali Ujjan, Ghulam Hussain Phulpoto and Azhar Ali Mahessar.

The police said that the jail superintendent and the medical officer helped the prisoners to escape.

The central jail superintendent while talking to reporters here on Wednesday demanded a judicial inquiry of the escape.
