MARDAN: A woman was gunned down by three persons allegedly belonging to her in-laws’ family when she was travelling in a rickshaw along with her mother here on Tuesday, police said.

The officials of Saddar police station here claimed in the preliminary investigations that the victim identified as Reeshma, 20, was married to a resident of Abbotabad district.

The police said that she was the second wife of her husband, who had been killed by unknown persons some time back. They said that family members of her in-laws were suspecting that she was involved in his murder.

Saddar police SHO Dawood Khan said that the woman had also remained behind bars in her husband’s murder case. He said that she was on bail these days and residing in her parents’ home in Manga locality of Mardan.

The police registered a case against three suspects identified as Syed Mohammad, Jan Mohammad and Sameer and have started raids for their arrest.
