DERA GHAZI KHAN: Police on Tuesday arrested a man who allegedly received at least Rs15 million from dozens of people, promising to get them jobs in government departments.

Taunsa Sharif Saddar police arrested the suspect, Yameen Makwal, after surfacing of a video clip on social media about the scam.

According to one of the scam victim, the suspect lured him by promising to secure a government job for him and got Rs0.5 million from him. However, he said, he neither got any job, nor his money back.

The police sources said complaints were pouring in against the suspect and the amount he fraudulently received from the victims could be much higher than Rs15m.

Acting on the complaint of a victim, Sabir Hussain, the police registered a case against Yameen under section 406 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

District Police Officer Muhammad Ali Waseem told Dawn the suspect had been arrested while further investigations into the scam were underway.

He confirmed that the suspect fraudulently deprived dozens of job seekers of heavy amounts totaling up to at least Rs15m.

The DPO said the police were looking for the accomplices of the suspect allegedly employed in different government departments.

Sources said some influential persons might also be involved in the scam.

e-licence The Education Department has asked private schools to provide data for the renewal of their e-licence.

Education Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Masood Nadeem said private school owners were provided e-licences under PRIS, which have expired and need to be extended.

The extended e-licences can be issued by uploading data on the department’s website.

OFFICERS CLUB: A meeting of the governing body of the officer club was held at the camp office under the chairmanship of Commissioner Liaqat Ali Chattha in which the name of the officer club was changed to DG Khan Gymkhana Club.

The meeting discussed the design of the logo of the club. A club council of 36 active men and women will be formed. After limiting the membership to 200, the fee schedule would be doubled.

The meeting decided the registration, form fee and other rules and regulations for the club.

Mr Chattha said that elections would be held in December every year. A swimming pool, a guest house with more than 24 rooms would be constructed. The club will be affiliated with clubs in other cities.
