GILGIT: A local anti-terrorism court here on Thursday sentenced five accused to death for kidnapping and torturing a youth and posting his obscene videos on social media.

ATC Judge Rehmat Shah announced the judgment after completion of the trial.

The court awarded death sentence to Sajid Hussain, Maqbool Hussain, Nauman Ali, Nasir Abbas and Hasnain Hussain, all residents of Danyore Gilgit.

The court also awarded 17 years imprisonment each to four of the accused and 22 years to one of them. The court also ordered confiscation their properties.

The accused had allegedly abducted and tortured a resident of Haramosh in Danyore and snatched his mobile phone and precious stones worth Rs500,000 from him on April 13, 2020.

The case was registered at Danyore police station against the five accused.
