QUETTA: A meeting of the Quetta Development Package Steering Committee was informed on Sunday that Rs3 billion had been released for projects under the package.

The meeting, which was presided over by Chief Secretary Mathar Niaz Rana, reviewed the pace of work on ongoing projects under the Quetta Development Package and took some decisions in this regard.

The meeting was informed that Rs6bn was allocated for the Quetta Development Package and half of the amount had been released during the current financial year.

The project director briefed the meeting on the projects and informed it about the progress of work on them.

Additional Chief Secretary Hafiz Abdul Basit, Finance Secretary Abdul Rehman Bazdar, Communications and Construction Secretary Dr Umar Babar, Implementation Secretary Imran Khan, Commissioner of Quetta Sohail Rehman Baloch and Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Lal Jan Jaffer attended the meeting.

The chief secretary directed the officials concerned to ensure an early completion of Joint Road, Saryab Road and Sabzal Road, Link Badini, Western Bypass, Sirki Road and other projects.

He said steps were being taken for the welfare of the people.

The government was taking measures for beautification of the city, he said, adding that plans for improvement of many parks and construction of sports complexes in the city are being made.

The Quetta Development Package includes 14 uplift projects.
