KARACHI: Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested two men for their alleged involvement in kidnapping, rape and murder of a seven-year old boy in New Karachi.

The boy, who had gone missing on Jan 4 in New Karachi, was found strangled on the premises of the Siddiqabad graveyard near Abdal Shah Mazar. A post-mortem examination revealed that the boy was raped and then killed.

Speaking at a press conference at his office, DIG-West Nasir Aftab said that a police team managed to arrest two men while their third accomplice was already arrested in a drugs case and currently languishing in prison on judicial remand.

He said one of the suspects had a fight with the victim’s uncle over some petty issue. The suspect plotted the kidnapping of the boy to teach the victim’s uncle a lesson.

He along with his other accomplices persuaded the boy to go with them. They kidnapped him on a motorbike and took him to Abdal Shah Mazar where they gang-raped the boy and later strangled him for fear of being identified.

The DIG said the DNA samples of the held suspects had been taken for investigation purpose.

He said the third suspect, who was in jail, would be charged in the rape and murder case.
