SWABI: A teenage boy was found dead in a room of a transgender person in the Swabi city here on Wednesday, the police said.

SHO Swabi city police station Altaf Khan told Dawn that the deceased, Haris Khan, hailing from Dagai village of Razaar tehsil, used to visit the transgender individual, namely Ahmad alias Honey, and often stayed there for the night.

He said the police had recorded the statement of the transgender person, in which she claimed that when the boy complained about his deteriorating health condition she took him to the district headquarters hospital, but he expired before reaching there. However, the police officer said the victim’s parents suspected that he was poisoned.

SHO Altaf said the doctors had taken samples of his stomach and sent them to the Bacha Khan Hospital Complex, Shahmansoor. He said there was no sign of torture on his body, adding the medical report would determine the cause of his death.

He said an FIR of the case would be registered on receipt of the medical report.
