SAHIWAL: Up to Rs80 million is being spent on the renovation of the Sahiwal Art Council.

Under the plan, the building structure, sound system, Majeed Amjad Hall, art gallery, exhibition hall and mini-meeting rooms will be renovated and redesigned.

Arts Council Director Ghulam Abbas said Rs24 million would be spent on the installation of 850 new chairs in the main hall. He said landscape will also be done by keeping in view local art history and culture.

Buildings EXEN Hafiz Abdul Qadir told Dawn new chairs would be installed in two months and the remaining work will be accomplished till the next financial year. The arts council was established in 2013 when the 50-year-old Jinnah Hall building was handed over to the Punjab Art Council. This renovation work was part of developing a facility for music, theatre and other cultural activities.
