Kabaddi squad named

ISLAMABAD, Nov 24: A 16-strong squad was named Thursday to represent Pakistan in the Asian Kabaddi Championship to be held at Tehran (Iran) from Nov 29 to Dec 4 this year.

The 14 players of the Tehran-bound squad, selected after trials, are Muhammad Akram (captain), Nasir Ali, Maqsood Ali, Rahat maqsood, Muhammad Arshad, Abrar Khan, Basharat Subhani, Sajjad Hussain, Wasim Sajjad, Badsha Gul, Ibrar Hussain, Muhammad Imran Sindhu, Adnan Afzal and Wajid Ali.

The coaches appointed to make the trip are Zubair Ahmed and Chaudhary Muhammad Sharif while Arbab Naseer Ahmed will accompany the squad as referee.

The team will leave Islamabad on Friday for Karachi from where they will fly off to Tehran on Sunday.

Meanwhile Pakistan Kabaddi Federation elected Ch. Pervez Elahi amd Mohammad Sarwar as its president and secretary.

The other office-bearers elected were Ch. Ahmed Nasim (patron), Ali Muhammad Khwaja (senior vice-president), Khwaja Saeed Hassan (vice-president), Ch. Muhammad Asghar (treasurer), Muhammad Saqib (joint secretary) and Khwaja Akhtar Abbas (joint secretary).—APP
