KARACHI: A woman was murdered allegedly by her former husband in the name of so-called ‘honour’ in Baldia Town on Saturday.

Saeedabad SHO Shakir Husain said that Aneela, 40, was stabbed to death near Ahmed Raza Masjid.

The police arrested the suspect, identified as Khanzada, and recovered a knife used in the murder. The officer said the victim had been divorced by the suspect around eight months ago. The suspect told the police that he killed his former wife because she had “relationship with others”.

She was mother of two children. The body was taken to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Man shot dead in Sachal

A young man was shot dead in Ghazi Goth within the remit of the Sachal police station on Saturday.

Police said that Shakoor Sami was gunned down by armed motorcyclists over some personal enmity.

The victim was a taxi driver by profession and hailed from Shikarpur.

The body was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital to fulfil medico-legal formalities.

Electrocuted

A young man died from electrocution in Defence Housing Authority on Saturday, according to Darakshan police.

Area police officer Mir Hasan said the victim was a drug addict. He climbed up an electric pole to cut wire when he suffered an electric shock and died. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.
