KARACHI: A suspected robber was shot dead in an encounter in Bilal Colony on Wednesday night, police claimed on Thursday.

Area SHO Nawaz Brohi said that four armed men riding motorcycles were looting people near 4-K Chowrangi. When a police patrol party rushed to the site, the suspects rode away but they were chased. One of the robbery victims riding his motorcycle accompanied the police team, he said, adding that in the ensuing gun battle, one of the suspects suffered a bullet wound and fell down from his bike. He died on the spot, the police officer said. Three other suspects, however, managed to escape. The police claimed to have seized one pistol, one motorbike, two mobile phones and two wallets from the dead suspect.

The dead suspect’s identity could not be ascertained immediately.
