AWAITING POSSESSION: This is with reference to an advertisement of the Malir Development Authority (MDA) (Jan 20) related to scheme 45 in Taiser Town. I am among the thousands of victims who were allotted plots in Tasier Town through balloting back in February 2007. It is now almost 15 years that we have been trying to get possession of our land, but to no avail. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) should take up the matter.

VENTING ANGER: This refers to the report ‘Dread the day when I’ll be back on streets, warns Imran’ (Jan 24). The prime minister seems irritated by the fact that politicians accused of massive corruption are roaming around freely. The investigation agencies, the prosecution and the judiciary together have failed to put them in jail. The frustration is understandable and not unreasonable.

DONKEY CARTS: I wonder for how long we will keep using dated transport modes, like donkey carts, which have become extremely unbearable, especially in Hyderabad where the roads are narrow and remain crowded all the time. An extremely slow-paced single donkey cart in the centre of the road adds to the frustration of the commuters. Why in the first place there is a need to use donkey carts when bike-loaders are available for almost the same price?

GIRLS EDUCATION: Education is the fundamental right of every citizen. However, there has been a lot of debate related to girls’ education in various quarters and, as such, there is much left to be desired in this regard. The girls are not given this basic right in many parts of the country, which is a tragedy. Developed countries have invested in education and provided equal opportunities for all. We also need to end discrimination against girls in education in order to achieve national goals.
