THERE was no issue of the newspaper on Jan 28, 1972, on account of the Eidul Azha holiday. The following excerpt has been taken from the previous day’s issue.

LAHORE: Advisers to the Governors of Sind and the Punjab would be named almost simultaneously — in about a week or so. This was indicated both by the Sind Governor Mr Mumtaz Ali Bhutto and the Punjab Governor, Mr Ghulam Mustafa Khar. They were talking to newsmen at the airport where Mr Khar had come to receive Mr Mumtaz Bhutto… . Mr Mumtaz Bhutto said that the selection of the Advisers would most likely be confined to the elected members of the People’s Party.

Mr Khar, however, said that they need not necessarily be from amongst the elected members. Mr Mustafa Khar dispelled the impression … that the same advisers would later be included in the Provincial Cabinet after the Assemblies had been summoned. — Staff correspondent

[Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies in Dacca,] The Foreign Minister of Bangla Desh, Mr Abdus Samad Azad, has said that arrangements are being made to bring back the Bengalis living in West Pakistan. He said assistance is being sought in this connection from the International Committee of the Red Cross and the [UN] Representatives.
