KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) on Friday submitted an application before the Civil Lines SHO for lodging an FIR against Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and police officers concerned for using force to disrupt their sit-in outside CM House on Jan 26.

In the application, party’s MNA Iqbal Mohammed Ali and coordination committee member Mehfooz Yar Khan stated that MQM-P’s lawmakers including Kishwar Zehra, Sadaqat Husain, Rabia Majid, Rana Ansar and others were injured while Mohammed Aslam was killed when police resorted to “torture women and men outside the CM House on the directions of the Sindh CM”.

A spokesperson for the MQM said the applicants had visited the Civil Lines police station but SHO was not there and no one received their application. Therefore, they sent the application through a courier service.

He said the MQM would approach court for a directive to the police to lodge an FIR against nominated persons if the police failed to entertain their application.

Murad visits slain worker, MPA’s home

On Thursday night, CM Shah visited the residence of slain MQM-P worker Aslam Khan in New Karachi to offer condolence with his family members.

He also visited the Orangi Town residence of injured MPA Sadaqat Hussain to inquire after his health.

The chief minister was accompanied by Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Shah, Administrator Murtaza Wahab and Special Assistant to CM Waqar Mahdi.

The brother of Aslam Khan thanked the chief minister for visiting him and offering the condolence.

While meeting MPA Hussain, the CM assured him of justice and said: “You are my brother, I have a lot of respect for you and grieved over the incident that happened at CM House.”
