ISLAMABAD: Two persons and an alleged robber were injured during a robbery attempt in Tarnol, police said.

A police spokesperson said two motorcyclists intercepted Naveedur Rehman and his cousin Waqas near a petrol station as they were heading home in Shaheenabad after closing their shop in Chungi No. 26.

The armed men tried to snatch cash and mobile phones from them, but the shopkeepers put up resistance, he said. One of the gunmen then opened fire on them, leaving both shopkeepers injured on road.

In the meantime, the other robber also opened fire, but a bullet hit his accomplice.

The spokesman said on hearing the gunshots, the police reached the spot and arrested the injured robber, but his accomplice managed to escape.

The injured shopkeepers and robber were shifted to a hospital where they were given medical assistance, the spokesperson said.
