SWABI: The police on Saturday recovered the beheaded body of an Afghan teenage boy here.

Zaida police station officials said the victim had gone missing a few days ago. They said locals informed them that beheaded body of a boy was lying in the fields in Gajju Khan area. They said the police collected the body and shifted it to Bacha Khan Hospital Complex, Shahmansoor, for postmortem.

The police officials said cause of the murder and whereabouts of killers were not known.

The officials identified the victim as Shafiq Khan, 15, an inmate of the Gohati refugee camp.

The Zaida police registered FIR against unidentified killers and started investigation.

GUR MAKING PROCESS HALTED: Growers said on Saturday that the process to make gur (raw sugar) had been stopped for last three weeks due long rain spells.

They said the gur making process could only be carried out during clear weather.

“Boiling sugarcane juice and converting it into gur always needs dried bagasse, which got heavily wet in recent rains. Now it will take quite a good time for drying,” Uzair Khan of Maneri Bala village said.

He said two long rain spells in the month of January had halted the gur making process.

“Incessant rains have caused growers heavy financial losses,” Asif Khan of Pirtab village said.
