ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar on Monday hinted at digitising the Capital Development Authority (CDA)’s land record.

During his meeting with Samina Rizwan of Code for Pakistan, a technology-focused nonprofit organisation, the minister assured it of his support to keep pursuing and developing technology that would improve governance and create accountability.

“Significantly, he asked for their assistance in developing a process to digitise CDA’s land records and to work closely with Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on CDA Affairs Ali Nawz Awan, whose priority is to achieve transparency,” said a press release issued by the Planning Commission.

It said in view of the problems and difficulties faced by the citizens in property and land transactions in the CDA and ICT revenue department, the minister directed the Code for Pakistan team to develop a digital system for solving the problems of the citizens.

The Code for Pakistan team said they were keen to work alongside the government on building user awareness for the usage of Sehat Sahulat in areas where it was being offered in addition to growing an existing fellowship programme, which pairs young technologists with government departments, to achieve digital transformation in Balochistan.

They also discussed engaging with the DC office for further improvement in the ICT digitisation.
