MARDAN: The Water and Sanitation Services Company (WSSC), Mardan, has secured first position in solid waste management for the third consecutive year across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to a statement issued by the WSSC here, assistant manager solid waste management Mohammad Ishaq was awarded by the Right to Services Commission in a function held at the Kohat University of Science and Technology on Tuesday.
It said that District Development Advisory Committee, Kohat, chairman MPA Ziaullah Bangash, Commissioner Kohat division Javed Marwat, and Chief Commissioner Right to Services Commission Mohammad Saleem Khan presented the award to the WSSC, Mardan, for getting the first position in solid waste management in the province for the third time.
The company sends monthly progress report to the RTS Commission which includes complaint resolution in solid waste management, safe disposal of garbage every month, complaints from citizens on the Pakistan Citizen Portal, clean water supply and drainage. The RTS Commission ranked WSSC, Mardan, first in the province for safe disposal of waste.
Chief executive officer engineer Amir Khan congratulated the WSSC team and said the company secured the first position as a result of teamwork.
Mr Ishaq said the city would be made a role model for the entire country in safe disposal of garbage with the cooperation of citizens of Mardan.
ANP TO TAKE PART IN POLLS: Awami National Party’s Punjab chapter provincial general secretary Ameer Bahadar Hoti has said that ANP will take part in the upcoming local government elections in Punjab province.
He was talking to mediapersons in Mardan Press Club on Tuesday during his visit to congratulate its new office-bearers.
He said that they were making consultations within the party for poll alliance with other political parties. He said they were expecting to get reasonable seats in local government elections in Punjab.
Mr Hoti complained that behaviour of the Punjab police was not friendly with the residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that blockage of identity cards of Pakhtuns in Punjab was another problem.
