DERA GHAZI KHAN: Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Tuesday laid the foundation stone of 15 projects worth billions of rupees for the district.

The projects include a dyke to protect settlements from the Indus river erosion, a maternity and child hospital, roads’ construction, emergency and OPD block at the Dera Ghazi Khan Teaching Hospital, the Ghazi University academic block and a hostel. A district education complex and a police training school also would be constructed.

Later, he spoke to journalists at Circuit House and told them that new districts and tehsils were being created in Punjab for administrative convenience. He said a committee was working on carving out new tehsils and districts.

He said the local elections would be held soon to delegate authority to the lower tier. The government, he said, was striving for the development of the country. He said talks would be held with the railways ministry for the restoration of trains for various destinations in Dera Ghazi Khan.

The chief minister said 130,000 jobs were being created in phases across the province. He urged the media to point out genuine problems to enable the government to solve them on priority.

He said he had directed the revenue department to locate land for the establishment of a journalists colony and the Dera Ghazi Khan Press Club would be converted into a state-of-the-art club.

He also promised financial support for establishment of buildings for press clubs at tehsil level.
