ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Tuesday announced that it would be organising the ‘Islamabad Marathon’ in order to provide healthy activity to citizens.

Presiding over a meeting, CDA Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed approved the proposal of holding the marathon. According to sources, the marathon was likely to be held in the first week of March and its starting and finishing points would be Fatima Jinnah Park in F-9.

According to a press release, it was decided that the process of regular registration would start in a few days.

The marathon will have three categories - 42km, 21km and 10km, with separate competitions for men and women, it said, adding that cash prizes would be given to winners of each category.

It said a committee would be formed to ensure that the marathon was up to international standards.

“All expenses of this marathon will be borne by the CDA, and it will be widely advertised so that not only people from within the country but also from abroad can participate,” the press release added.
