HARIPUR: A woman was killed and a man injured when a van plunged into a ravine in remote Bait Gali area of Ghazi tehsil, the police said on Wednesday.

The Nara Amazai police quoted witnesses as saying that a van carrying two passengers was on way to Topi from Bait Gali village when the driver lost control over the wheel while negotiating a sharp turn, plunging the vehicle into a gorge.

The accident caused on-the-spot death of a woman identified as Gul Rahban Bibi, while the other passenger, namely Siddique, a resident of Devi village, was injured critically. However, the driver managed to escape unhurt as he jumped off the falling vehicle.
