RAWALPINDI: A stage actor was gunned down while performing dance at a theatre here on Friday.

Qadeer Hussain, a Gujranwala resident, complained to the Cantonment police that his brother Naveed Hussain had arrived in Rawalpindi a few days ago with a troupe of dancers.

He said his brother was performing at Ciros Cinema Theatre in Saddar when he exchanged hot words with one Imran after which the latter shot him. Three accomplices of the alleged killer helped him escape, he added in the FIR.

The injured was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital where he died.

A police spokesman said City Police Officer (CPO) Omer Saeed Malik took notice of the incident which led to the arrest of one of the suspects, Iftikhar Shahzad, who was nominated in the case.

Evidence have been collected and police are investigating all aspects of the case. Moreover, raids are underway to arrest the main murder suspect, he added.

Injured man dies

A young man, who was injured in a road traffic accident along with his two friends on Thursday, died in hospital on Friday.

The deceased’s mother complained to the Waris Khan police that her son Qasim Ali, a resident of Mohallah Workshopi, was travelling in a car along with his two friends when they were hit by a truck from behind on Murree Road. The police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
