ANTIGUA: Pakistan captain Qasim Akram wrote history in U19 World Cup while leading his side to a massive 238-run victory in the fifth place match at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium on Thursday.
After Pakistan openers Muhammad Shehzad (73) and Haseebullah Khan (136) gave a strong start to the side with a 134-run stand, Qasim carried the momentum with an excellent knock of unbeaten 135 to take the side to a strong total of 365-3.
In return, Sri Lanka failed miserably in the run-chase as they were bowled out for a paltry 127. Off-spinner Akram shone with the ball as well, picking up 5-37 to become the first player to score a century and take a five-wicket haul in U19 World Cup history.

Pakistan lost to Australia purely due to bad captaincy by Qasim Akram who did not use his best bowler Awais Ali even when the Australian partnership was of about 150 runs. Qasim himself only performed against minnows.

What’s so good about that.
We needed them to score in the semifinal.
Playing for the 5th place is like playing for the wooden spoon.
