TAXILA: A police team came under fire near a remote village in Pindigheb area of Attock early on Monday. However, the police arrested eight members of a gang, two of them injured.

According to a spokesman for the district police, the police team headed by Arbab Tufail, station house officer of Pindigheb, was on patrol after getting information about the presence of suspected robbers in the area.

When the police reached near Ratrian village, the armed men opened fire on them, which was retaliated.

The robbers tried to flee from the scene but the police foiled it arrested all the eight members of the gang.

Two of the alleged robbers were arrested with bullet injuries and shifted to district headquarters hospital Attock.

According to the spokesman, the gang members belonged to various parts of Punjab, including Kasur, Multan, Vehari and Pakpattan, who were involved in different robbery cases in the area. He said that those who were arrested were identified as Khadim Hussain, Mohammad Arif, Sajjad Hussain, Mazoor Hussain, Mohammad Boota, Mohammad Ashraf, Mohammad Amjad and Mohammad Ishfaq.
