PESHAWAR: A policeman was injured when two groups of Insaf Students Federation (ISF) clashed at the University Campus here on Monday, the police said.

A police official at the Campus police station told Dawn that clashes took place between two factions of ISF at Sheikh Taimoor Academic Block. He said a student identified as Waqar opened fire when police personnel tried to arrest him, injuring a policeman, Aamir Sohail.

The official said the police arrested the accused.

A police spokesperson said the accused had graduated from the university in 2017.

Separately, the police are investigating human remains recovered from a burnt car in the limits of the Inqilab police station the other day.

The car was found badly burnt, while human remains were recovered from its back seat. However, police investigators have identified the car as belonging to a lawyer identified as Taif Khan Advocate, who had reportedly gone missing on Friday.

The police have sent the samples for forensic analysis.
