RAWALPINDI: Seven patients lost their lives to Covid-19 in Rawalpindi while 102 more people tested positive in the district on Tuesday.

On the other hand, 359 new cases emerged in the federal capital with the positivity rate calculated at 8.5pc.

According to the District Health Authority of Rawalpindi, a total of 1,470 samples were collected out of which results of 102 people came back positive. On the other hand, 232 patients recovered from the virus and were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours.

The deceased were Naveed Ashraf, 44, resident of Mohallah Farooqia Chaklala; Raja Allah Ditta, 80, from Gujar Khan; Mahjabeen Tanzeem, 76, of Sadiqabad; Laiqur Rehman, 70, of Gulshan Dadan Khan; Sharif Nazim, 85, of Afandi Colony; Khurram Shahzad, 36, resident of Kamalabad, and Abdul Ghafoor, 82, of Faisal Town A. Block. They all were admitted to the Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU).

Positivity rate continues to fall

The positivity ratio in the district reduced to 6.93pc.

There are 1,464 active patients in the district out of whom 96 in hospitals and 1,368 home isolated.

Officials said 41 cases were reported from different parts of Rawalpindi and Chaklala cantonments, 15 from the city areas and 23 from Potohar Town.

Moreover, three patients arrived from Gujar Khan, one from Taxila, five from Kahuta, four from Kallar Syedan, three each from Islamabad and Azad Kashmir, two from Jhelum and one patient each from Attock and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

There are 96 patients admitted to different hospitals - seven in Benazir Bhutto Hospital, four each in Holy Family Hospital, District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, 25 in Fauji Foundation Hospital, 52 in RIU, two in Hearts International Hospital and one patient each in Attock Hospital Rawalpindi and Bilal Hospital.

Three of the patients are on ventilators, 52 on oxygen and 41 are stable.

Islamabad

Officials of the capital administration said 4,208 samples were collected out of which 213 males and 146 females were found infected.

The officials said 105 cases were reported in the age group of 20-29, 88 in 30-39, 54 in 40-49, 32 in 50-59, 23 in 0-9, 21 in 10-19, 20 in 60-69, 13 in 70-79 and three in 80 and above.

Likewise, 19 cases were reported from Loi Bher, 12 from Rawat, nine from F-11, seven each from F-10 and F-6, five each from I-8, E-11, G-13, I-10 and F-7, four each from G-11, G-10 and G-7, three each from G-5, G-8, G-6, Khanna, Koral and G-15, two each from G-9, F-8, Bhara Kahu, I-9, Tarlai, Sohan, Sihala, Model Town Humak, H-9 and Tarnol, and one each from Chak Shahzad, B-17, F-15, G-16, E-16, H-10 and Jhangi Syedan.
