LAHORE: Heavy traffic jams were witnessed on all major arteries in the city on Tuesday.

Most of the major arteries remained clogged as the security barriers were installed on the roads to divert traffic. Motorists remained trapped due to heavy blockade.

Thousands of vehicles on major roads, including The Mall, Davies Road, Egerton Road and Canal Road, remained stuck for more than two hours.

The motorists complained about clogged connecting arteries around major roads.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Fayyaz Ahmad Dev also visited the Gaddafi Stadium and reviewed security and traffic arrangements for the PSL-7 matches starting in the provincial metropolis from Feb 10.

The CCPO inspected security arrangements at different entrance and exit gates of the stadium and issued directions to strengthen the arrangements remaining highly alert and keeping a vigilant eye on any suspicious activities.

He directed police officials to behave with the visiting citizens at the stadium in a polite manner.

Elaborate security arrangements have been made at the residential place where the teams are boarding, the stadium and its surrounding areas. Heavy deployment of contingents will be made on the route of the teams.

More than 8,000 policemen have been deployed for security purpose and four-layer security arrangements made for the players, officials and the citizens.
