KARACHI: The Sindh cabinet’s sub-committee on local government on Tues­day unanimously agreed on points to make amendments in the Sindh Local Government (Amendment) Act 2021 in the light of a Supreme Court decision and proposals given by different political parties.

The committee also agreed that a comprehensive law would be introduced and mayors, municipal committees and town committees would be empowered as much as possible.

The amendments to the local government law were discussed in detail and finalised to ensure full implementation of the directions of the apex court.

The sub-committee meeting was presided over by Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Shah and attended by ministers Saeed Ghani, Mukesh Kumar Chawla, Jam Khan Shoro, Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh and chief minister’s law adviser Murtaza Wahab and others.
