RAWALPINDI: Though the number of Covid-19 cases is declining in Rawalpindi district, there is no let-up from deaths as 10 people, including two children, lost their lives to the virus on Thursday.

Moreover, the virus also claimed the lives of five people in Islamabad.

According to the District Health Authority of Rawalpindi, 100 more people tested positive and 212 patients recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours. A total of 2,322 samples were collected and the positivity ratio was recorded at 4.31 per cent.

Raja Bibi, 95, resident of Kamalabad, Lala Bibi, 72, of Kallar Syedan and Gulzar Begum, 82, of Muslim Town Sadiqabad, died at Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU). Besides, three-year-old Anabia Bibi, from Gujar Khan, one-year-old Fatima Ahmed from Rawalpindi city, Abdul Hameed, 74, of Adiala Road and Khan Mohammad, 82, of Stadium Road, died at Holy Family Hospital (HFH). Fasihullah Khan, 90, resident of Bahria Town Phase-8, died at Quaid-i-Azam International Hospital, Condila Eric, 83, of New Malpur, at the RIU and Ghulam Zahra, 67, of Wah Cantonment, passed away at Shifa International Hospital.

In Rawalpindi district, there are 1,238 active patients - 116 in hospitals and 1,122 home isolated.

As many as 26 of the patients reported from different parts of Rawalpindi and Chaklala cantonments, 20 from city areas and 21 from Potohar Town.

Moreover, 11 patients also arrived from Gujar Khan, four from Taxila, one patient each from Chakwal, Lahore, Mianwali, Kahuta, four each from Kallar Syedan, Islamabad, Attock and two from KP.

There are nine patients on ventilators, 32 are on oxygen and 75 are stable.

Islamabad

Five deaths and 239 cases of the virus were reported in the capital.

Officials said two males in the age group of 80-89 and one female each in the age group of 60-69, 70-79 and 90 and above passed away.

The deceased were residents of F-7, G-7, Tarlai and Chak Shahzad.

During the last 24 hours, 5,405 tests were conducted out of which 139 males and 100 females tested positive with 4.42pc positivity rate.

The officials said 66 cases were reported in the age group of 20-29, 57 in 30-39, 43 in 40-49, 18 in 0-9, 16 each in 500-59 and 60-69, 14 in 10-19, seven in 70-79 and two in 80 and above.

Likewise, 12 cases were reported from Loi Bher, seven from F-10, six each from Rawat and F-8, five from G-11, four each from I-8, G-9, I-10, G-6 and Tarlai, three each from E-11, Bhara Kahu and Kurri, two each from F-11, F-6, Koral, Sihala and D-12, and one each from G-10, G-5, F-7, G-7, I-9, Khanna, Sohan, Chak Shahzad, I-14, Model Town Humak and G-14.

On Thursday, the capital had 8,419 active cases and 106 of the patients were admitted in hospitals. Of these, 94 were on oxygen and eight on ventilators.
