MPA’s guard, driver killed in Kohat accident

KOHAT: A police guard and the driver of Pakistan Peoples Party’s provincial secretary information MPA Amjid Afridi died when their vehicle collided head-on with a truck here on Friday. The MPA was returning from Zhob area of Balochistan.

The deceased police security guard, Mohammad Haroon, was a resident of Sayyab area of Kohat, while the driver, Mohammad Usman, hailed from Peshawar. They succumbed to their injuries in a nearby hospital, where they were shifted immediately after the accident.

The MPA miraculously escaped unhurt in the accident, which destroyed his vehicle.

The funeral prayers of the constable were offered at the Police Lines, Kohat, where a contingent presented him a gun salute.

The funeral was attended by SP investigations Syed Inayat Ali Shah, ASP headquarters Usama Ameen Cheema, DSP Saddar Irfan Khan, MPA Amjid Afridi, and a large number of locals. Later, he was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard in Sayyab area. Floral wreaths were also placed on his grave.
