LAHORE: Though Covid deaths are increasing, the new positive cases of the virus are on the decline in Punjab.

The official figures show the Covid-19 claimed lives of 24 patients across the province during the last 24 hours, taking the toll to 13,319 in Punjab so far.

Of the latest deaths, 10 were reported in Rawalpindi, seven in Lahore, three in Faisalabad and two in Rahim Yar Khan, while the remaining were reported in Sialkot and Sheikhupura.

As per the data, the total number of positive cases reached 493,525 in Punjab after 989 more surfaced in the province during the last 24 hours.

It also shows Punjab reported less than 1,000 new infections in a day since the fifth wave intensified in the province.

Of the new cases, 487 are reported in Lahore, 132 in Rawalpinid, 69 in Faisalabad, 33 in Sialkot, while 29 others are reported in Multan, while the remaining are recorded in Sargodha, Rahim Yar Khan, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Kasur, Jhang, Muzafargarh, Hafizabad, Toba Tek Singh etc.

The positivity ration of the virus in Punjab was recorded 7 per cent during the last 24 hours, the health department says.
