KARACHI: The handcuffed body of an unidentified young man was found in the Manghopir area on Sunday, police said.

They added that the trussed-up body of the victim, who appeared to be in his late 20s, was found floating in Hub Canal near a pumping station of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board. Apparently, there were no injury marks on the body, they added.

SSP-West Suhai Aziz said that the deceased’s hands and feet were tied, which suggested that he was thrown in the canal.

Although the body was partially decomposed, investigators managed to get his fingerprints, which were not matched with police’s record connected with the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra).

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors reserved the cause of death after a post-mortem examination.

A spokesperson for the Edhi Foundation said that the body of a man in handcuffed was found in the same canal last week. The body was brought to a hospital in Winder, Balochistan, from where it was moved to Quetta for medico-legal formalities.
