RAWALPINDI: A tutor who allegedly murdered his seventh grade student in a fit of rage in Ratta Amral area was remanded in police custody for four days on Tuesday.
A murder case was registered against Adil Zaib Chan on the complaint of Zahid Naseer, the father of the victim. Her body was handed over to her parents after postmortem.
According to preliminary report, the girl had 18 stab wounds on her body including her neck, arms, fingers and ear.
The accused was produced before the area magistrate’s court who remanded him in police custody for four days. His mobile phone is being searched by police for clues.
The victim’s father told police that he had two daughters Barera Zahid and six-year-old Anshara Zahid. After school, they used to go for tuition to Ms Zahida’s house with some other students.
On Monday, he said, he and his brother found Zaib entering Ms Zahida’s drawing room with a dagger in his hand. Other students were also present when Zaib began stabbing his daughter and attempted to escape afterwards.
Zaib then went as far as threatening the complainant and his brother if they tried to catch him. However, the victim’s father said he, his brother and Ms Zahida managed to capture him.
“My daughter was murdered. Adil used to give tuitions to my daughter and she once told me that her teacher had bad intentions towards her. Therefore, I confronted him and this annoyed him,” the victim’s father said.
Punjab Forensic Science Agency experts and police investigators reached the spot and collected evidence from the scene. Police said the accused had been teaching Quran to children. A senior police officer told Dawn that investigation was underway and the residence of the accused would be searched for evidence.
