PESHAWAR: Two men, including a Sikh hakeem, were injured in a gun attack here on Tuesday.
Saddar Circle SPFarhan Khan told reporters at the Malik Saad Shaheed police lines that Bipinder Singh was targeted by an armed man in his Kohat Road clinic.
He said the Sikh hakeem suffered a bullet injury in his thigh and the other man in his hand. The official said the attacker, Ahmad, had been detained and that he was a drug addict with criminal record.
The Rehman Baba police station didn’t registered an FIR of the attack until night.
A police official said the search for another suspect was under way.
In Sept last year, Sikh hakeem Satnam Singh was shot dead on Charsadda Road in the provincial capital.
A banned militant outfit, militant Islamic State group’s Khorasan chapter (IS-K) claimed responsibility for the attack. The police claimed in Dec last yearto kill three IS-K commanders in the city insisting the militants were involved in the murder of the Sikh hakeem and other attacks.
