HARIPUR: The anti-encroachment squad of the tehsil municipal administration here on Tuesday demolished two markets and a car showroom constructed illegally on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Highway Authority land near Kotnajibullah.

Assistant commissioner headquarters Rao Hashim Azeem told mediapersons that during demarcation of the land the KPHA had identified encroachments on the sides of Hattar-Taxila Road in the revenue limits of Kotnajibullah village. He said the illegal occupants were served legal notices to vacate the land, but they failed to comply with the orders.

He said the TMA’s anti-encroachment squad demolished two commercial markets having four shops each and a showroom, retrieving 16 kanals of state land. He expressed the resolve that the anti-encroachment operation would continue till retrieval of all the illegally occupied land in Haripur.
