KARACHI: The body of a three-year-old boy, who had gone missing on Feb 13, was found in a Shah Faisal Colony nullah on Wednesday, police and hospital officials said.

They said that the boy was assaulted before being murdered.

They added that the body, which was found in the nullah located around half kilometre from his home, was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for a post-mortem examination.

Additional Police Surgeon at JPMC Dr Summaiya Syed said there were injury marks on the face, neck and head of the victim, who was also sexually assaulted. She added that it appeared that the body was lain there since last two days.

Area SHO Manzoor Arain said the boy went missing outside his home on Sunday morning. His mother lodged an FIR against unknown suspects. He said that she was living with her parents after developing differences with her spouse.

Meanwhile, a suspected robber was shot dead by a man in his home in Gulshan-i-Hadeed on Wednesday, police said.

Steel Town SHO Akram Arain said that around five-six robbers barged into the house of a businessman. However, a family member, identified as Kaleemullah, woke up and challenged them. The robbers started firing and during an exchange of gunfire one suspect got killed.
