LAHORE: A woman and her young daughter were allegedly killed at their home in Shahdara area late on Tuesday.

A police official said Bushra Bibi (45) and her daughter Sana (20) were slain with a sharp-edged weapon (probably a dagger).

He said the forensic experts isolated the crime scene, collected some evidence, including the finger prints, and shifted bodies to the city morgue for autopsy.

To a question, he said, it seemed they were murdered over a domestic issue and the police were searching for a young relative of the deceased woman suspecting him a prime suspect in the double murder incident.

The suspect wanted to marry the slain woman’s daughter but she had rejected the proposal many times, the police official said adding that he nurtured a grudge and killed his aunt and her daughter.

The police lodged a murder case against the fleeing suspect. Further investigation is under way.

In another incident, scores of people blocked a main busy road of Sabzazar after a teenager was allegedly shot dead by unknown armed men.

A police official said two days back Adnan (16) was on his way to a local market where two armed men came on a bike, shot at and injured him critically.

Adnan was shifted to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday, he said adding that the relatives and other residents placed the body on the road and blocked it for traffic.

He said the traffic went out of gear for many hours, prompting the senior police officers to reach the spot for negotiations.

The protesters later cleared the road when the police assured them of timely action against the suspects.

“The motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained,” the police official said.
