HYDERABAD: Parveen Rind, a house officer at the Peoples University of Medical and Health Sciences for Women, recorded her statement before a team of police officials at DIGP office in Nawabshah on Thursday as part of investigation into the startling charges of harassment she had leveled on three university officials.

Ms Rind appeared before a female investigating officer (IO) who was assisted by DSP Sultan Chandio, and named the three varsity officials, pro-vice chancellor Dr Farida Wagan, senior provost Dr Farheen Dahiri, and hostel warden Atika Dhamrah as her tormentors.

She said the three women had tried to beat her to death at the behest of Dr Ghulam Mustafa Rajput after she turned down his offer to have unethical relations with him. The women also threatened her that she would get killed if she did not follow their advice, she said, adding that she had not recognised them earlier.

A police source said that the team wanted to hand over a questionnaire to her but she declined to take it and said that she would accept it in the presence of some witnesses.

The police team asked her to share with investigators any piece of electronic evidence like messages on WhatsApp, Facebook and mobile phone to substantiate her charges.

Our Dadu correspondent adds: Earlier, Ms Rind accompanied by her uncle Ali Nawaz Rind met DIG Khadim Hussain Rind and demanded arresting all the accused nominated in her FIR, particularly the main suspect Dr Rajput who had been harassing her for the past four years.

She appealed to the DIG to provide her security so that she could complete her studies. The DIG assured her of providing security and arresting all the accused involved in the crime.
